Heartburn In An Easy To Understand Manner
If you have gotten that full sensation after eating a sumptuous meal then you know what it feels like to eat just the right quantity. Sometimes we may overindulge and feed the belly more than what it can actually take in. This decreases the space in the stomach for it to produce sufficient acids that enable faster digestion. Because of the lack of space in the stomach, the food content along with the acid can push up against the esophagus and stomach intersection where there is a sphincter that protects against a back flow. If the stomach content manages to fight its way through this juncture it is called as heartburn.
The reason it is called as such is because of the effect it has on the esophagus. A burning sensation grips the entire esophagus and adjoining chest area that mimics the symptoms of heart attack. It feels as if the heart is burning up due to heating. This is normal in individuals but those who get it more often might have to go to a doctor for a diagnosis.
